Remeniscing...

So I've purged my Flickr of everything that doesn't have to do with art/my store... and I'm coming across my older photos and it's got me thinking...
Back in my early SL days, I was a catgirl (not a furry, just.. ears and occasionally a tail. I was also a vampire sometimes.) I went out more often, didn't really associate with designers at all, and DJed at Club Mutation. I didn't know about windlight, or Sculpties.

I'm looking at my photo comments and I don't ever remember talking like that. I sound SO STUPID.
"imma huntin fer fishies :P" REALLY? Ugh..

I've only changed my shape once since then, (to my current one) (though my breast size fluxuates. It's currently the smallest its ever been at about 35...)

I used to release things frequently for my store, but they were TERRIBLE. I've since retired about 1/3 of everything I've ever made. Nowadays I release things that are exclusive / hunt/ vip items more frequently than I make things to sell in my store. 1/3 of my store folder is exclusives, 1/3 retired, 1/3 still in-shop.

I used to have a sort-of secret SL boyfriend. He was much much older than me and lived in the states. He just left SL and stopped talking to me one day.

I also had a best friend that I was basically inseparable with for a while in SL... but he turned out to be a lying sack of shit that was just using me.

(The first dress I made in SL- transferred from the dress I made for IMVU)
I first made my store "Adore" To carry only Gothic Lolita items. I soon found out that I really wanted to make items that didn't fit the "Lolita" brand at all, and so I introduced the "abhor" part of my store. They merged soon after, and I created a logo (which I now hate). My original intent was to create a Gothic & Lolita store in sl, and it was for about a year. I then found out about other fashion.

(My first real customer. The rest before were close friends. Photo: Apr. 12/2008)

My first stall was on Pulse, behind Sn@tch. I moved then to a small two storey shop, just a few doors down from Sn@tch's main entrance. My wallpaper has always been damask. Different Damasks throughout the ages, but damask nonetheless. Originally my floors were checker marble. From there I moved to Vapor, run by HeZ, where I had a store next to my then-friend. We decided to open a mall together. She wound up fucking me over, and picked up my store, and bought my land out from under me. I kept my store next to hers on Vapor, secretly keeping tabs on her. As far as I know, she quit SL. I can't lie, the day I found out she had, I had a quiet celebration.

I wandered into Surrelia's sim (Jabberwocky) and found that one or two of the pawn shops (Oh wow I just got that pun) were free so I asked her if I might rent one and she said yes. I opened a satellite store on one of the Sugarmill sims. It was so cute and shaped like a fairy house. Shortly after that, a notice was sent out about a mainstore location being up for sale and I jumped on it. I was starting to make enough and get enough traffic at my main store that I felt that I could maintain a mainstore. The whole sim got a huge overhaul after I moved in, and I built my store from scratch. This is basically the store you can see at my mainstore location to this date, though it has gone through a number of modifications since.

Not too long after that, Anicia (Sugar Mill Poses) sold the sim to Rayvn (Mudhoney)

At first I was tentative- I didn't know Rayvn at all and her store was intimidatingly large and cool. Rayvn has since proven to be one of the coolest people I know, and she always puts 110% effort into everything she does, especially having to do with the sim.

That's basically it- There's still the story of how Sileny and I wound up getting marriedish, and how I lost my DJing job, and my time at Starlust... But they're all tangents.

I've been open since about April 2008. I've only ever made things that I really wanted to make. I'm not hugely popular, splattered across the feeds and talked about in gossip blogs. Sometimes it gets to me but only momentarily. Mostly it makes me work harder. I have good friends, a great landlord, most of the time I can find inspiration, I don't generally have to deal with customer service issues, griefers, bots, etc...

I like my SL life. I like you guys. (Especially those of you who have actually read ALL of this...) I'm so glad I'm still here.
It may not be newyears yet, but here's to another great year! Cheers. ♥

I got so incredibly sick of those terrible "model poses" that everyone seems to get when they first join SL I made a set of copy/trans poses. Yes it says full perm and no they're not mod. I want my store name to stay on them. Unless you're going to rename them you really don't need to have them mod and I don't see why you'd need to rename them. No, they are NOT to be resold. I'm sure they will be... Lots of dickheads out there. YES THEY CAN be used for building things, if you can find something to incorporate them into.

Send them to your friends! Send them to any noobies that you meet. Send them to designers that use the model poses in their ads still! But most importantly, have fun!
